Seven Minnesota professional golfers are headed to New Mexico at the end of the month for the PGA Professional National Championship, June 28 – July 1, in hopes of qualifying for the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

The tournament, held at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M., serves as a qualifier for the PGA Championship at Minnesota’s Hazeltine National Golf Club in August.  Minnesota Section PGA members Ty Armstrong, Craig Brischke, Todd Kolb, Jay Norman, Brad Schmierer, Jeff Sorenson and Dave Tentis will compete against 305 other professionals for a spot in the top 20 to advance to the PGA Championship.

The Minnesota PGA pros qualified to compete in the PGA Professional National Championship through the 2008 Minnesota Section Professional Championship held last August at Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minn.
