The Couple That Plays Together Stays Together
My wife and I will be married 20 years this year and videos like this are what inspires me as a married adult. Hats off to this wonderful couple who have been married 62 years. Enjoy this wonderful video.
Lindsey Vonn is Our Video of the Week
Okay, so this is a total “homer” play, but this winter Lindsey Vonn will ski for gold for the U.S. at the Vancouver Olympics. Hey, she’s a Minnesota gal and grew up in Burnsville so heck yeah, we’ll be pulling for her in the StoryTeller offices this winter. Go Lindsey!!!
So You Think Social Media is a Fad, eh?
I have a good friend that is convinced social media is a fad and that it’s not going to last. She, like many others, point to the fact that Twitter can’t figure out how to monetize itself and therefore, it along with all social media will crumble on the side of the road. If you’re like her, check out our Video of the Week and you may change your mind. It’s not new, but boy is it powerful!
Video of the Week: A Marshmallow in the Hand is Worth Two…where?
Mom always says, “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” The big question, is what’s a marshmallow in the hand worth if you can’t eat it! If you’re a parent with young kids, you’ll appreciate our Video of the Week. Heck, you may appreciate it if you’ve just got a little bit of kid in you. Have a great weekend!

Great video from a really cold place! Whenever I see video like this it reminds me that we’re a small part of a great big world. It also makes me wonder if they use Twitter. Hmmm.
Video of the Week - A Four Year Old Homage to Herb Brooks
This came to me by way of Dave Mona on Facebook. In the movie, “Miracle,” which celebrates the improbable run of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey team, Kurt Russell re-creates Herb Brooks’s pre-game speech prior to playing the Russians. Well, “Rizzo,” a four year old does his version of Russell doing Herbie Brooks.
On a quick side note, I had the opportunity to interview Herb Brooks in the mid-1990’s and funny, he didn’t sound anything like Kurt Russell. Imagine.
The Seth Godin Doll Goes to the MN State Fair
Heidi Ruen in our office passed this on to me and I thought, what a perfect fit for our Video of the Week. Of course, a more serious video featuring the real Seth Godin is also our VOW, but this is just entertaining stuff!
Seth Godin Talks About Whether Social Media is Good for Biz
I stumbled upon this clip of Seth Godin in which he talks about the value of social media in business. Seth has always had an interesting take on social media and if you haven’t seen him, check this out. By the way, Seth Godin is the keynote speaker at the 2009 MIMA Summit in Minneapolis in October. Check him out!
John Hughes Video Tribute is our Video of the Week
Last week film director John Hughes passed away at the age of 59. If you, like me, grew up on his movies in the 80s you’ll appreciate our Video of the Week. Thanks John Hughes for helping us laugh through our college years!
Mark Buehrle on The Late Show - Video of the Week
So sue me. I’m still a sports fan, but that’s what happens when you spend a majority of your professional life covering sports. Last week, the Chicago White Sox superstar pitcher, Mark Buehrle pitched a perfect game. No hits, no walks, no batter reached first base. 27 batters, every one went down. It’s remarkable, in fact, it’s only been done in the history of the game 18 times. Imagine that, 18 times dating back to 1880!
Buehrle appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman to do the Top Ten List this past week. Proud moment for us in Minnesota - the segment was shot at the Metrodome, home of the Twins.
